If you need a file downloading app that allows you to download content from hosting platforms like 4Shared, Mediafire, and more, you need the power of jDownloader.
File-hosting services can be both a blessing and a curse. It's nice to find such a vast array of content on those platforms, but they usually come with horrible download speeds and file downloading limitations. This app is designed with a number of advanced features that help users get around these restrictions so they can manage downloads efficiently and smoothly.
One interesting thing that jDownloader does is allow for download queues and simultaneous downloading. This means you can choose to download files one at a time or all at once. When you've reached a daily download threshold for any of these platforms, this app will bypass the wait time for your next download window. If you use free accounts on any of the most common file-hosting platforms, the software can assign new IP addresses to make your system look unique each time you access the service.
With jDownloader, you can pause downloads and resume them at any time. If there are multiple files you want to download from multiple hosts at the same time, you can do so. There are few things this downloader can't do. One of its only faults is that downloads that have been interrupted aren't always recoverable.
It's exceptionally easy to use the jDownloader software. When you find a file that you want to download on a file-hosting platform, copy the URL of that web page. In the app window, you'll see a small field called Add URL where you can paste the URLs. Once you've included all the URLs with files you want to download, click the Play option to begin downloading.
In some cases, larger files have to be broken down into smaller files that are usually compressed for maximum efficiency. If this is the case, jDownloader will automatically separate any URLs added to the field. You can paste full lists of multiple URLs into the field, and the software will handle everything.
There are some instances where you'll have to wait a minute or so before the download begins, but this is typically only the case when you're using a file-hosting service without a premium account. When this happens, you won't have to deal with any annoying additional clicking or confirmations.
Some file-hosting services limit free accounts to a certain number of downloads or a certain amount of data, but you can easily get around this thanks to the 'Get New IP Address' button. This will trick the file-hosting service into believing your system is a new user, so you can continue downloading.
The entire purpose of jDownloader is to help those who download files from hosting platforms, even if they only perform infrequent downloads. The software contains all the advanced features and functions you would expect from a fully comprehensive download manager.

jDownloader is a download tool that makes transferring from file hosting services faster and easier.
File hosting services provide access to files that aren’t easily accessed elsewhere because they’re too large or for other reasons. The downside to file hosting services can be that they split archives into a number of separate files that require individual downloads, and they can slow down the process overall by requesting user input, such as CAPTCHA codes or other verification.
That’s where jDownloader comes in. The program supports batching, so you can add any number of links to it. Then, just set it and forget it. jDownloader can download files simultaneously to get the most out of your bandwidth. In addition, if the server supports segmented downloading and is capping speeds lower that what you can support, jDownloader can concurrently download different segments of the same file to really maximize your connection.
A potential byproduct of this type of segmented downloading is broken or corrupt downloads, but downloads can be repaired simply by downloading the incorrect segment, which seams easy enough. However, repairs are a bit spotty in jDownloader and may require a complete re-download. Fortunately, broken downloads aren’t that common of an occurrence.
jDownloader can also automate CAPTCHA codes and other forms of verification, which is a really great feature. The success rate doesn’t near 100 percent and, depending on the verification type used, may be less than 50 percent, but that’s all right. It still makes the process easier. CAPTCHAs will usually only occur about 20 percent of the time or less, and if jDownloader encounters verification it can’t get past, it simply puts that file aside, moves on to the next, and waits for your input for the delayed file.
jDownloader is a free, open-source program that does what it sets out to do and has many great features. It doesn’t seem to be optimized; however, which means that it can be a resource hog and cause older computers to run poorly. Nevertheless, modern computers often have enough horsepower to overcome these limitations with sheer brute force.
Pros
- Can improve download speeds
- Supports concurrent downloads
- Automates CAPTCHA verification

- Not optimized
